Welcome to the city of AUrum!

The city of gold bears the namesake of its protector Aurum. It is a vast metropolis that has served as cultural and intellectual hub for well over a millennium. Built into a massive plateau, the city is constructed in layers both internally and externally, and spills down off the sides of the mount down onto the many tiers of the plateau. Within the city walls are urban districts of all varieties, as well as inhabitants. Aurum boast one of the most robust economies on the continent; do in great part to its diverse populace. The cities universities attract scholars, and arcanists of all schools of learning; so information and helpful spells are readily available. The destructive power of the natural forces that formed the plateau is kept at bay by the massive underground spring that was opened during the most recent tectonic upheaval. Aside from being the primary source of fresh water for much of the region; this spring helps slow the subterranean lava flow left by the mounts volcanic forbearers. The elemental clash of fire and water also provides an excellent source for magical and scientific discovery. The lave flow is also harnessed as well to provide heat, mineral wealth, light, and building materials. The city is guarded on much of it outer rim by a series of deep crevasses, that allow for immediate access to the outer rim from the interior. The land beyond this is mostly populated by highly organized farms that allow the polis to be essentially independent from outside food sources. (stay tuned for more!)
