“This is a land shaped by the hands of forgotten gods.” So said Aurum the gold when he first arrived on this continent over a millennia ago. Aleinterra; the forgotten continent. Long sought by mortals and found during the age of terror. Formerly a savage place; Aleinterra was inhabited by abominations and beasts, until a few of the cultured races ran to her to escape the dragon war brought on by the last gambit. The first to grace these shores were the humans; a fact which they covet heavily for they were not first in the world. Next to challenge these lands were the dwarves; with hardened hearts for they had seen their mountains fall. Then came the elves and their like; fleeing the flames of their forests. All these came, and all these eked out a hard earned living on Aleinterra’s strange earth. They settled in and established themselves undaunted, but always wary. But no place is safe from dragons.
Though new to mortals dragon kind had long known of the lost continent; some even had lairs hidden in her vast lands. So the races of the old lands escaped nothing. Some remained hidden within the vast forests. Some built citadels to hide in. Some like many of the dwarves; were enslaved. Yet the war did not come here. No one knows why exactly but the dragons seemed to wage their war over the old lands. An unfortunate fact for the people that built their civilizations there. So despite the unfortunate circumstances suffered by some; the lost land proved to be a safe place to lay the seeds of new civilization. At least for two thousand years…..
The war was not going well for the children of Bahamut. They had lost the only ground that mattered; the island of DracenFell, and with it the alter of Paladine. Their numbers were beginning to dwindle, and their old allies had failed them. The only option left was to retreat, regroup, and pray. So they flew south to lands where there evil cousin’s influence was weak.
When they reached the lost lands the metallics were surprised to see how much the civilizations there had grown. Much had gone unnoticed by them during this time of turmoil, and death. The elves had honed their magics well. The humans had built great citadels with mighty weapons built purely to repel those of dragon kind. Those dwarves that had not been captured had spent many years planning the rescue of their fellows, and had been mastering the craft of forging weapons to strike through an armor of dragon scales. So with great humility the mighty metallic dragons sought allegiance with these refugees made of their war. At first all refused. But a gold dragon named Aurum aided by a silver named Argentum, made a plea to the rulers of these races. The argument was simple; help them make a stand, or be conquered with them. The dwarves were the first to agree; anxious to help their cousins escape. Then the humans; on the condition that with success, their lands remained theirs. Finally the elves consented; only on the condition that the chromatic beasts were stopped on the shores, planes or desserts so there new forests wouldn’t burn.
Then the inevitable battle occurred. Dragon blood stained the land and sea; and flooded the plains and swelled the rivers. But this time it was the blood of Tiamat’s children and their dark allies. The tactics employed by Bahamut's chosen and their allies were infallible, and within in only a few years time a conflict that had lasted millennia, was brought to a halt.
With the apparent end to the war the children of Bahamut were at an impasse. Many returned to the old lands, to rebuild. Some of the ancient let twilight settle upon them. But many decided to stay in the lost lands, and build not just layers, but civilizations of their own design. Cities of Gold, Silver, Bronze, Copper, and Brass were built and guarded by the Platinum god’s children. And thus the Dragon Polis’s were born.
