History of the Blood-Fire Dwarfs

Over two thousand years ago a clan of dwarfs ventured into the earth further than any others before them. They mainly explored the volcanic tunnels left from moving magma in search of rare and precious gems. During such adventures the clan encountered an ancient red dragon, the dragon enslaved the clan and forced them to dig and search for the very same gems which the dwarfs were looking for. This way of life carried on for the dwarfs for about a thousand years, during which time the dwarfs skin became a darkish red and there breads and hair were lost due to the extreme heat in which they were forced to work in. Their faith in Mordian began to dwindle and eventually faded; at which time was replaced by the worship of a God known as Baumuhat which the dwarfs learned was a mortal enemy of the red dragon and his kin. Sometime after that the dragon’s lair was invaded by a Gold dragon and his army which fought off the red dragon which eventually fed with a few of his minions. The gold dragon freed the dwarfs and offered them a place of honor and peace within his kingdom. The dwarfs took this as a sign from Baumuhat and agreed to join the Gold dragon. The people within the Gold dragon’s city quickly dubbed these dwarfs the “Blood-Fire Clan” because of their reddish tint of their skin and the appearance of their stubbed bread which actually look like they have been burnt off. The clan was quickly recognized for their superior fighting and defenses styles along with their uncanny knowledge of fighting dragons, thus proving them with a place within the Gold Dragons army in which they typical serve as knight. During their time in the city the dwarfs have not breed with any outsider nor have they left to live else were (although they do leave to adventure the world, but always return home)

Beliefs, Religion and Life-styles

From an early age the dwarfs are taught about the great Baumuhat and the how he saved them from eternal slavery. They inscribe their armor with pictures of their beloved God and often their shields depict a trumpet Gold standing over a Red. They all so have a dislike or sometimes a hatred for Mordian and how he turned his back on them, even if he is the all-father.

They all so believe that when a fellow dwarf dies weather from old age or combat on the battle field, that a portion of his soul inhabits his combat gear (prime weapon, armor and shield). So when a dwarf dies his combat gear is brought to the dwarven settlement within the city and a ceremony is preformed in honor of the fallen (leaving the gear without magic properties). Then the gear is pasted on to a newly knighted knight, in which the fallen dwarf will help guide the living. The dwarfs are very protective of this gear and will never let anyone use it, enchant/work on it (except other clan members) it is considered sacred to them. If a fallen dwarfs gear is not found he is thought to be a “lost soul” until it is brought back to the city and the ceremony preformed.

From the day they are born the male dwarfs are trained to fight, they are professional soldiers and have no other profession (except for one blessed male that is a favored soul which performs the ceremonies and enchants their gear, there is only two at any one time a master and a disciple). Every part of their days is filled with training, they are even sent to the Mage University to learn about arcane magic and how to defend against it (this is the only time they are trained by outsiders). When they reach young adulthood they become a squire underneath a Knight in which they are tested over and over again, this is the first time they are allowed to leave the city.
The women dwarfs are responsible for ever other task of daily life. The women are not permitted to take part of the education and training of the males. This often leaves the women to explore other classes and run any family business. Although the women do not take part of the men’s training they are highly respect among them for all they do for the men.

Backstory of Valthic Erdar

From an early age Valthic was taught how to fight, defend his comrades and how to kill dragons. He was all so given lessons on his history and taught their religion. Eventually he was given a master, a proven knight that would teach Valthic the code of the knightly ways his name was Sir. Orcon Rattar. Over the course of 20 years Valthic served underneath Orcon as they adventured and defend the law. A few years after becoming a full fledged knight his former master Ocon went on a mission and never returned. Since that day Valthic has sworn to find Orcon dead or alive and bring back whatever remains of him so it may be buried with his ancestors.
